HTC Touch Diamond – Number One Competitor for IPhone
Another HTC Touch series mobile phone has been released recently. The new comer is called The HTC Touch diamond which is believed as the number one competitor for Iphone mobile phone so far. The HTC Touch diamond sure is a great mobile phone with the following features:
Hardware Design
HTC deserves a point for the luxury design of the HTC Touch diamond mobile phone. The diamond shape in the back of this phone gives this phone elegant look. The sleek design is very well balanced which make this phone fit perfectly in your palm. The hardware button layout looks very nice the front of this phone, under the phone screen. You will find with 4 navigation buttons (Home, Back, Call Answer, Call End) complemented by a touch-sensitive scroll wheel serving as the main navigation option. There is a power button at the top and a volume keys on the left side of the phone. There is also a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera lens in the back and a secondary VGA camera in the upper right corner of the phone. One disadvantage from this phone hardware design is the all-in-one mini-USB jack which limits you to the HTC-supplied headphones. Why don’t they just give us a 3.5 mm headphone jack?
Screen
Well, basically the HTC Touch diamond mobile phone is a touch only device without a physical numeric or QWERTY keypad the quality of the screen, both in regards to touch response and resolution, is going to determine about how well the phone will perform. But don’t worry because the result of the quality test is quite pleased. Pictures, videos, and web content look very nice in the screen. The touch response also good but still it just can’t compete with Iphone touch screen quality.
Connectivity
The HTC Touch Diamond is technically a 3.5G device, sporting 7.2 HSDPA. The HTC Touch diamond also support Wi-Fi technology and the test result showed that the Wi-Fi worked very well.
TouchFLO 3D
HTC’s new Touch FLO 3D is, without question, the most aesthetically pleasing Windows Mobile skin we’ve ever seen. If you thought the HTC customizations on the original Touch and the Shadow were impressive, you’ll be blown away by the new version. The company has set a new standard for turning Windows Mobile’s corporate whitewash appearance into something you might actually call “attractive”.
Expandability
The HTC Touch Diamond sports a 4GB of internal memory, all of which is user accessible. This leaves plenty of space of music, movies, and pictures. Unfortunately, there isn’t any sort of expansion slot to expand the phone’s memory.
VoIP Now Available for iPhone
Get ready for free VoIP calls on your iPhone. An Israeli company called Fring announced today that it started publicly testing an application for the iPhone called Fring which allows users to make and receive calls using voice over IP technology. In case there’s any sort of misconception here, Fring bypasses any cellphone carrier and relies solely on an Internet connection to make a call.
But here’s the surprise. Fring allows users to make VoIP calls over 3G or EDGE connections, which is a huge deal. With Fring, all customers need would be a data subscription with their carrier (in case of the U.S., AT&T) and begin making those free calls. According to Fring, the application will dynamically adjust audio quality depending on the type of connection it detects.

VoIP and Video-Conferencing in Sight for the iPhone?
Christian Zibreg wites an interesting article on the future of the iPhone:
The upcoming iPhone 2.0 software is just around the corner and we all may be surprised how Apple’s unified communication solution could merge mobile communication with VoIP, PCs, Macs, iPhones and even Apple TVs. We took a hard, long look at the information that is available right now from reports as well as patent filings to give you an outlook what Apple might be up to, why we are quite certain that VoIP and videoconferencing will be the iPhone’s new killer applications.
Although the 3G iPhone has yet to be confirmed by Apple, we are receiving more information about iPhone 2.0 software update on an everyday basis. When Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone software road map on March 6, he also announced that, by the end of June, all existing iPhone users will get a major software update that will greatly enhance the iPhone’s capabilities.
What everyone seems to hope for at this time is some kind of VoIP solution, such as Skype, that will enable iPhone users to place free phone calls over Wi-Fi network. The prospects for a VoIP iPhone app looked grim when we learned that the iPhone SDK doesn’t allow third party applications to run in the background: The SDK also specifically prohibits developers from accessing the iPod portion of an iPhone, leading many to believe that Apple created the same barrier for VoIP capabilities.

Apple’s Handsfree Bluetooth Headset
Now that the iPhone is a household commodity {insert witty remark here}, it is of course natural that everyone wants all the accessories and conveniences as possible. One such accessory is Apple’s Handsfree Bluetooth Headset.
When asked, “How does Apple’s Bluetooth Headset work with iPhone?”, one reviewer – Julian Schrader, answered:
To put it bluntly: Great. The headset comes with a new, slightly bigger iPhone docking station. Connect it to your Mac/PC via USB, insert iPhone and put the headset in its place where a MagSafe-like connector waits to hold it.
